Power Paws for Kids is a Northwest Indiana non-profit organization that furthers educational children's literacy programs by using reading teams consisting of registered Delta Society Pet Partner dogs and their handlers. Power Paws provides reading sessions in a school or library setting free of charge. Students read aloud to a Power Paws volunteer and their dog, and this process helps build the confidence of these students and provides them with an exciting environment to practice their reading skills. Power Paws also provides visits from their volunteers and their dogs to nursing homes and assisted-living facilities.
