Valpo Y Partners with Methodist Hospitals

Due to the exponential growth of people joining the Valparaiso YMCA, 10-thousand in two-years, the non-profit has decided to collaborate with Methodist Hospitals as its new Healthcare Engagement Partner. US-231 Exit Ramp Partially Blocked

An overturned semi is partially blocking the left lane of the exit ramp to US-231.  INDOT says that there might be full ramp closures while the trailer is removed.  In the rollover the semi trailer lost most of its load, reportedly, bags of sugar and both it's rear set of wheels.

Worker Dies After Fall at Generating Station

Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris reported to our newsroom that his office today received a call about a man who had fallen off scaffolding at the NIPSCO Schahfer Generating Station in Wheatfield.  Harris says 49-year-old Troy Jabaay of Hebron was pronounced dead at Porter Regional Hospital this morning. Harris says an investigation is ongoing.

Semi Accident Closes I-65 Ramp

Winfield Lowers Limit on Part of 109th

In Winfield, the speed limit is dropping soon on a stretch of 109th Avenue. Officials are lowering the limit to 30 miles-an-hour along 109th between Randolph and Miami Streets. Look for new signs to go up possibly as soon as this Thursday or Friday. Just a couple months ago, the town also lowered the limit from 40 to 30 on Randolph in front of an elementary school.

Missing Hammond Senior Found Safe

Hammond Police Chief Brian Miller says a missing senior Sunday was found safe and unharmed a couple hours after a local alert went out.  Chief Miller says the 70-year-old woman was found in the bathroom of a restaurant. They don't know how she got there and are presuming she went for a walk and got lost.

La Porte Co Inmate Suffers Miscarriage

Sheriffs police in La Porte County say a jail inmate has suffered an early-term miscarriage. Authorities say the 23-year-old woman became involved in a physical altercation with another inmate and a jail deputy intervened. She was uninjured but was transported to an area hospital, officials say, because she was pregnant, and during the exam it was determined the unborn child was deceased. Body Found in Lowell Identified

An autospy this afternoon has positively identified the body found yesterday in southern Lake County as that of the missing Calumet City woman, 42-year old Gena Chiodo.  Merilee Frey, Lake County Coroner says the autopsy performed at the Lake County Coroner's Forensic Science Center discovered many external and internal traumatic injuries due to assault, including multiple stab wounds and blunt force injuries.  Due to the outcome of the autopsy, Frey says she is ruling the death investigation a...

Authorities say a 30-year-old construction worker from Wheatfield was killed at the Hoosier Heartland construction site near Delphi in north-central Indiana.
