The Duneland community's Hometown Holiday Celebration begins this afternoon with free horse-drawn carriage rides through downtown Chesterton from 3-5pm, according to the Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce. In La Porte, La Lumiere School has announced the acquisition of Creekwood Inn in Michigan City as a donation to the school this January . The 30-acre property which is close to Interstate 94 will be known as La Lumiere School, Creekwood Campus. The Indiana State Department of Health Wednesday reported a sixth death related to a multi-state outbreak of fungal meningitis linked to epidural steroid injections used mostly for back and joint pain. Lake County Park officials say the unseasonalbly warm temperatures in the Region is delaying the opening of Deep River Waterpark Ice Plaza by one day. Dr. Sandra Basala, Superintendent of Visitor Services at Lake County Parks, says the ice plaza will not open Friday as scheduled, but will be open by noon on Saturday November 24. Basala says coils under the concrete allow for freezing layers of water on the Ice Plaza, but the recent warm weather has slowed the process.
