For the first time since being elected Indiana's Governor, Mike Pence testified today in support of a bill. Governor Pence testified in favor of a voluntary, pre-K program before the Indiana Senate Education and Career Development Committee, stating that reducing childhood poverty is a goal of his Administration. Pence says he has come to the conclusion that the state will not succeed if the fact that one out of every five Indiana children lives in poverty is not addressed and testified that the time has come for a voluntary pre-K program to help Indiana's low-income kids, which is proposed in House Bill 1004.
