A company in Elkhart has been charged with discrimination on the basis of disability in violation of the Indiana Civil Rights Act Law. The Indiana Civil Rights Commission reports the complainant was hired as a general laborer in March of 2013, and about a month later experienced a medical episode related to his disability. Following the episode, United Roll Forming terminated the complainant for safety reasons.
According to the state's Civil Rights Commission, available evidence demonstrated the company failed to discuss reasonable accommodations or make any attempt to continue the complainant's employment, as well as failing to produce any evidence showing the complainant violated any safety rules.
