Indiana DNR
It's an invasive species that if allow to grow to adult can eat 40 pounds of fish in its lifetime resulting in significant damage to the Great Lakes fishery.  To prevent that from happening the Indiana Department of Natural Resources reports that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be applying treatments to kill sea lamprey larvae  in Trail Creek between April 22nd and May 1st, depending on weatheror stream  condtions.  According to the DNR, the lampricide treatment will target larval-phase lampreys that were spawned before the construction of the Trail Creek Sea Lamprey barrier in 2012.  The barrier prevents adults from reaching spawning habitats upstream, virtually eliminating the need for future pesticides.
