On May 6th Crown Point Community Foundation is also joining communities from Northwest Indiana and across the country for a national day of local giving. Marking the centennial anniversary of community foundations, Give Local America invites Lake County residents to raise significant funds for causes right in their own backyard.
One of the areas local charities, Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana is constructing a wheelchair ramp for a Crown Point resident in the 300 block of South Main Street. The build will take place between the hours of 9am to 4pm. Furthermore, Yashica Milton, a family who is to receive a Habitat home later this year, will be going to the ramp site to help build the structure and give back to the community that has helped raise the funds for her Habitat home. Parishioners from Saint Mary’s Church of Crown Point and also employees from Prompt Medical Ambulance Service are also among the group that is to help build the structure.
