In Portage, officials say several homes on the city's south side were damaged in Sunday's storms, and part of the roof of El Pueblo Restaurant on US 6 on the west side of the city was blown off. Joe Calhoun, Director of Administration and Emergency Management for the City of Portage, reports several neighborhoods on the south side of the City received significant damage Sunday night. Some houses were pummeled by hail. We were told the wind and hail were so intense at one point in Portage that it shattered the outer mirrors on cars. There was so much hail at one point it looked like snow on the ground. Large trees were reported down in Portage. Another issue local crews are dealing with is removing corn stalks that were swept into area waterways from fields south of US 6. City crews continued working to to clear debris from storm drains and roadways.
