Indiana Governor Mike Pence was the keynote speaker today at the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce luncheon in Hammond. Earlier today, Governor Pence joined executives from Alcoa, a global aerospace manufacturer, to announce the company's plans to expand its operations in LaPorte, creating up to 329 new jobs by 2019.
Governor Pence also plans to stop by the Amtrak Hammond-Whiting station this afternoon to announce the 71.4 million dollar Indiana gateway project to improve a congested passenger and freight rail line between Porter and the Illinois state line. The Governor will then wrap up his visit with a stop at IU Northwest School of Medicine where he'll detail the state's HIP 2.0 plan to cover uninsured Hoosiers.
