Road Closure Info for Maple City Grand Prix

The 2nd Annual Maple City Grand Prix US Formula One Boat Races kick-off at Stone Lake this weekend. As a result, the LaPorte Police Department wants to remind the public that a number of road closures near the perimeter of Stone Lake will be in effect today through Sunday.
They include:

-Grangemouth Dr. (from Lakeshore Dr. to Waverly Rd.) - closed to thru traffic from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

-Lakeshore Dr. (from Small Rd./Orchard Dr. to Pine Lake Av.) - closed to thru traffic from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the exception of those whose only home access is off Lakeshore Dr.

The following intersections will also be closed from 8:00 a.m., Friday, May 30 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 1, with the exception of Saturday, May 31, the intersections will be closed until 10 p.m. to accommodate the fireworks display over the lake:

-Weller Av. at Craven Dr.
-Weller Av. at Central Av.
-Weller Av. at Greenleaf Av.
-Weller Av. at Pennsylvania Av.
-Weller Av. at Oakwood St.

On Friday, May 30 there will be a Downtown Block Party at State/ Monroe St. beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Also on Friday evening, there will be a boat parade with flyover on Lincolnway starting at 6:00 p.m. The parade will start at Lincolnway/ Oregon St. and continue west to Monroe St.

Motorists are encouraged to be alert and drive with care when traveling near the above listed areas due to increased motor and pedestrian traffic. Be prepared for stopped traffic and allow for extra travel time due to possible traffic congestion.
