ABC News Poll: 63% of Americans Favor Reducing Emissions

The Obama administration today announced a new plan to cut carbon dioxide emissions from power plants by 30-percent by the year 2030. The Environmental Protection Agency rule is part of the President's plan to reduce pollution linked to global warming. A thousand adults were interviewed for a ABC News/Washington Post poll on the topic, which finds that seven in 10 Americans see global warming as a serious problem facing the country, enough to fuel broad support for new federal efforts to limit the release of greenhouse gases. Seventy percent back such plans, and the level of concern is high enough that 63 percent they'd favor reducing these emissions even if doing so raised their own energy bills by 20 dollars a month. The results have a three-and-a-half-point error margin.
Republicans say the new EPA regulations will be a job killer and slow economic growth, while President Obama says the rules will bring jobs to the renewable energy sector and cut costs over time.
