“The nice thing about glamping is it allows folks that don’t want to rough it the opportunity to enjoy the semi-wild and appreciate places like the dunes,” said Brad Bumgardner, park interpretive naturalist.
Weekend programs will focus on important women in dunes history, beach-glass jewelry making, a camping recipe tasting and exchange, example glamping sites and other activities. The weekend begins Friday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m., with a glamorous campfire gathering at the park’s Campground Shelter, and continues Saturday and Sunday with hikes and talks throughout the day.
Visitors should check the park’s interpretive schedule for specific program titles and times. A special sunset toast will take place Saturday at 7:15 p.m. from the historic pavilion rooftop. Special program funding comes courtesy the Friends of Indiana Dunes group.
Visitors are not required to stay overnight to enjoy any of the activities. For more information, call (219) 926-1390. Indiana Dunes State Park is at 1600 North 25 E. Chesterton, 46304.
