Tips to Lake County Crime Hotline Lead to 4 Arrests

Information to the Lake County Sheriff's Department Report a Crime Hotline that triggered an investigation leads to drug related arrests in Gary and Hammond.  Police reports say, the Lake County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Fillmore St. in Gary and recovered 22 grams of Heroin, Cocaine and a stolen handgun.

As a result, drug charges, including dealing in a narcotic drug and a felon in possession of a handgun charge are pending against two 40 year-old Gary men, identified as  Zachary Artis and Carlton Spurlock.

Reports say the Task Force executed a second search warrant at a house in the 6500 of Grand Ave. in Hammond and recovered 10 grams of cocaine, ecstasy, and "molly," a new form of ecstasy.  Charges of possession and dealing in a controlled substance are pending against 24 year-old Amber Soderquist of Hammond and 38 year-old Malawchee Gray of Matson, Illinois.
