First District Congressman and Vice Chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus, Pete Visclosky, testified today before the International Trade Commission on the importance of enforcing our trade laws. Visclosky stated the American Steel Industry is being threatened by the influx of anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders on tubular goods from nations overseas. He testified that identical circumstances regarding the same product occurred several years ago involving China and while that case resulted in significant decreases in imports, it opened the door for other nations to seize on that opportunity and dump their imports here. Visclosky says these nations are exploiting our market and the trend of allowing steel to be dumped here needs to be stopped.
