Katelyn Marak of Valparaiso was crowned the winner of the Miss Porter County Fair Queen Pageant Friday night. Radio One Communications own Mike Summers and Laura Waluszko hosted the 52nd annual event in the fairs' grandstand. The new queen, sponsored by the Porter County Farm Bureau, who was named "most photogenic," plans to attend Valparaiso University in the fall. 16 other girls vied for the title and were judged on interviewing, hobby wear, professional wear, evening attire and impromptu questions. Britta Ringas of Chesterton was announced 1st runner up and Miss Congeniality was sponsored by the Porter County Pet Clinic, and Clare Sands of Valparaiso earned 2nd runner up was sponsored by Valparaiso Rotary Club. Marak will represent Porter County at the Indiana State Fair in August.
