Congressman Pete Visclosky announced an almost 64-thousand dollar planning grant to an area airport today. Griffith-Merrillville Airport Vice President and General Manager Craig Anderson says the grant is essentially for engineering, permit work, and surveying, all to set the stage for drainage and culvert improvements, as part of the on-going construction of its parallel taxiway. Anderson says the grant money will be received in phases...periodically, over the next four-to-six months as the work progresses, and that construction of the taxiway is about 60-percent complete.
