Some areas of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore are closed today (Tue Oct 30 2012) due to high winds and waves brought on by Hurricane Sandy. Public Information Officer/Park Ranger Bruce Rowe says in the Michigan City area, Mount Baldy and Central Avenue access points are closed today; in Porter County, the Porter Beach parking lot is closed, and in Portage, the Portage Lakefront and Pavilion are open, but the beach, breakwater and Riverwalk are closed.
