NIPSCO to Provide Mutual Aid Crews

The 40 to 50 mile per hour winds that blew through the region as a result of Hurricane Sandy had a number of energy customers without power at times. NIPSCO Spokesman Nick Meyer says at it peak six-thousand to 65-hundred customers were without service, with areas along the lakefront, like Michigan City, being the hardest hit. Meyer says now that outage issues related to the remnants of Sandy have been dealt with, NIPSCO will be sending 60 crew members to eastern areas of Ohio and Cleveland, to lend a hand to the restoration efforts there, at the request from other utilities to support the nearly five to six million customers still without power. Meyer says the mutual aid is part the close relationship they have with other utilities.
