In Munster, a major expansion project is scheduled to get underway today. Last week, Community Hospital announced it will begin a 33-million-dollar expansion of its Munster campus that will include construction of a new four-story addition to the Emergency Department Pavilion, which was built three years ago. The multiphase project is expected to take two-years, during which time officials say all hospital services will remain open. The project is designed to add private rooms, double the capacity of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, expand the main Surgical Services area and increase capacity for stroke and heart patients.
