Indiana State Police at the Lowell Post say a sleepy driver, who told police he left Yellowstone National Park the day before and had driven straight through, crashed in Lake Station around 9:30 Saturday morning. Police say the 68-year-old man from Kalamazoo, Michigan, was eastbound apparently in the right or middle lane of Interstate 80-94 just past the Ripley Street exit when he fell asleep and his Chevy Malibu went off the road and crashed into a ditch, narrowly missing a lightpole. His wife, 64, was also asleep, police say, and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both were wearing seat belts. Police say the car had extensive front-end damage.
