Hobart's latex paint recycling facility, the first of its kind in the state and marking three years in existence this month, has gotten an industry honor. The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has presented Hobart with a silver excellence award in the category of Special Waste Management. Latex paint, which has traditionally been put to the curb for regular trash-pick-up, is recycled at the Hobart plant on South Shelby Street, where the city's public works facility is, then the paint is resold for three-dollars a gallon. The recycled paint, which is a neutral beige color, is free for government and nonprofits. [Photo/Laura Waluszko, Radio One Communications]
