Few people attended an open house on the Illiana Expressway at IU Northwest in Gary Saturday, but a bigger turnout is expected at the one tomorrow night at Lowell Middle School, with the proposed expressway set to go through south Lake County, connecting I-65 on the east with I-55 in Illinois to the west. Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission has four open houses on the proposed tollway this month, including one in Porter County, at the NIRPC office in Portage, November 13th , and one in Michigan City, at Michigan City City Hall November 19th. Regional planners are expected to vote on the highway next month.
