A pilot and another person escaped serious injury when their private plane flipped upside down during an emergency landing in a soybean field near Lowell Tuesday morning. Lake county sheriff's police say the single engine circa 1960 Cessna 175 en route to Poplar Grove, Illinois from Anderson, Indiana had engine problems and attempted to set down in the field at the southeast corner of 245th Avenue and Whitcomb Street south of town. Police said both of the plane's occupants required no medical attention and that the accident scene has been secured pending the arrival of FAA investigators.
