At about 5:30 this morning, Northern Indiana Public Service Company was reporting more than 26-hundred outages... mostly in Gary, Lake Station and Merrillville. The number of customers losing electricity jumped to more than eight-hundred in Valparaiso and about two-hundred in Portage within the hour.
