Two northwest Indiana schools – MacArthur Elementary in Crown Point's school district and Northview Elementary in Valparaiso – are among eight statewide and more than a couple hundred across the country to earn the high honor of being named a national Blue Ribbon School. The U-S Department of Education will honor 219 public and 50 private schools at a recognition ceremony on November 12th and 13th in Washington, D.C. Webster Elementary in the Plymouth Schools was also among the Indiana schools. The National Blue Ribbon Schools award, now thirty-years old, honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in levels of achievement.
