Windy conditions stemming from Hurricane Sandy will affect our Tuesday commute in Northwest Indiana. The Region's Traffic Center with Radio One Communications reminds you to give trucks extra room on the highways and expressways. There is a multi-trailer ban in effect on the Indiana Toll Road across the entire state. Gusty winds can cause power outages and damage to overhead traffic signals. All intersections with flashing red or dark signals must be treated as all-way stops unless law enforcement is on the scene directing traffic. Motorists should be on guard for flying debris as well. Be especially cautious in construction zones where temporary signage may blow onto the road. Watch out for limbs and power lines that may be downed in the high winds. Officials urge motorist to never drive across downed lines.
