Officials say a LaPorte man was pronounced dead at the scene after a crash about three-miles north of LaPorte on US Highway 35 overnight. LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan says he was called to the scene at about 2:30 this morning. Sullivan says the man was identified as 26-year-old Jacob Anderson, a passenger in a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 35, a vehicle that for unknown reasons left the roadway and struck a very heavily wooded area in the 3000 block of US 35, just north of what people would remember as the old Charlie Finley farm, Sullivan says. Sullivan says Anderson was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene from massive blunt force trauma. Sullivan says the driver, a 29-year-old LaPorte resident, was transported to a local hospital. LaPorte County Sheriffs Police and Center Township Fire crews also responded.
