Portage Man Goes Back to Jail for Curfew Violation

A Portage man was sent back to jail today for violating terms of his pretrial supervision, regarding a fatal crash earlier this year. The Times reports 20 year old Reinaldo Figueroa III, pleaded guilty last month to hitting a mo-ped, and fleeing the scene, on County Road 700 North, in Portage Township, in April, and the driver, 22 year old Frank Ivey, of Valparaiso, was then run over by another vehicle, who notified authorities. Published reports say a Porter County Probation Officer, along with two other officers, visited the home where Figueroa resides, at 8:20pm on the night of December 10th, but testified the 20 year old could not be found, even though he had a 6pm curfew. The Times reports this is the second accusation of the Portage man violating the terms of his pretrial supervision, and he faces two to eight years behind bars if a proposed plea is accepted by February 20th.
